The Great Race

Sunday, August 4, 5:30pm

Part of the Summer Contest, the Great Race is one of the last opportunities to earn massive points! The Great Race is a giant relay race that we do outside. Students will be divided into teams, and each student will have the chance to participate in different relay events, including things such as a quarter-mile sprint, jello bobbing, slip and slide, shaving cream battle, sword drill (Bible drill), and many more. Students will get wet, dirty, and potentially covered in shaving cream, so they should wear old clothes and bring a towel (and maybe a change of clothes as well).

Teacher Appreciation Luncheon

Friday, August 9 11am (Volunteers need to be there at 10am)

Pastors Daniel, Amanda, and Strickland are a part of an organization called Operation Bless Wildwood. They do a Teacher Appreciation Luncheon every August for all the teachers, administration, and support staff in the Wildwood School District, around 200 people. We feed them lunch, pray over them, and give all kinds of door prizes and school supplies to them. It takes a lot of volunteers to setup, feed, and clean up afterwards. Students are encouraged to come help out, especially since many of our students go to Wildwood. There will be a ton of points given to students for the Summer Contest if they come help. See Pastor Daniel for details.

The Summer Contest Finale is a party held every year to celebrate the summer, celebrate what God has done, celebrate the upcoming school year, and to announce a winner of the contest. There will be lots of food, a few final games, a devotion and challenge for the beginning of school.

Weekly Events

Youth Church - Sunday Nights, 5:30-8pm in the gym

Our main event every week is our Youth Service. We open the gym at 5:30pm and let the students come and hang out for about half an hour. At 6pm we have group prayer, and at 6:15pm we start our Youth Service. Designed from the ground up with teens in mind, this is a Church Service just for them. We have games, videos, and a cafe. But, more importantly, we have a Youth Band for live worship, and a Bible Study. It's a great time hanging out in the presence of God and learning about His Word.

Club 612 - Friday nights, 6-9pm in the gym

It was our observation that there wasn't much to do around here for students on Friday nights except perhaps get into trouble, so we opened up our church gym to give them a safe place to hang out and play basketball. Around 7:30 or so we stop and do a short devotion and prayer before we get the games going again. There is usually a free snack, and our cafe offers sodas and other snack foods for purchase. This is our foot in the door of the lives of students who may not come to church for a Bible Study.

Basketball Clinic - Friday Nights, 6:30-7:30pm in the gym (During Club 612)

Every week during Club 612, we have a free basketball clinic facilitated by a former NCAA certified coach. This is a free clinic for any beginning and intermediate students in grades 6-12 that would like to come. There is no registration required (other than the standard check-in for Club 612), and no commitment. Students can just show up and participate. Coach Chris will lead them through proper warm-ups, dribbling, handling, passing, and shooting drills, and live game assessments.
