First Wednesdays are different kinds of services. They are broken up into smaller segments, and usually include interactive elements. The message centers on the cross as the site of Christ’s physical, emotional, and spiritual pain, revealing the costliness of sin and the depth of God’s love. It highlights the “great exchange”—our sin for His righteousness, our death for His life, and our pain for His joy—and invites a tangible response of surrender. Listeners are called to remember, relive, and rejoice in the victory of the cross, then daily crucify the flesh and carry the cross in faithful obedience.
