WHY CHURCH MATTERS
Preached to: Middle & High School Students
Speaker: Pastor Amanda Hahn
So many people say, “I love Jesus, but I don’t need church,” yet Scripture reminds us that following Christ was never meant to be a solo journey (Hebrews 10:24–25). The church isn’t a building or a brand—it’s a family of imperfect people growing together, encouraging one another, and fighting for each other’s faith. Isolation may feel easier, but faith fades alone and grows in community. When we shift from simply attending to truly belonging—serving, connecting, and engaging—we step into God’s design for spiritual strength. You weren’t meant to follow Jesus alone; community makes your faith stronger.
Next Steps:
Show up intentionally.
Choose one person to connect with.
Join the body, don’t just watch it.
Pray for your church.
You weren’t meant to follow Jesus alone—community makes your faith stronger.

Hebrews 10:24–25
We are commanded not to neglect meeting together

Culture gets louder
Accountability disappears
Drifting happens slowly in isolation
V. What Church Actually Does
Reminds you who you are
Encourages you when you’re tired
Corrects you when you’re off track
Provides accountability
Builds spiritual momentum in community
VI. Shift from Attendance to Belonging
Attendance is passive
Belonging is personal
Ask: Am I attending or committing?

Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it.
