Fuel the Fire

Preached to: Middle & High School Students

Speaker: Pastor Amanda Hahn

Fuel the Fire 🔥

Faith doesn’t fade because it’s weak—it fades when it’s neglected.
Fire goes out when it isn’t fueled, and the same is true for our walk with God.

This year we’re stepping into ACCELERATE—a season of faith-fueled momentum, fresh fire, and full trust in God’s timing. But momentum doesn’t happen by accident. It happens when we tend the fire God has already started in us.

Here’s how we keep our faith burning strong:

🔥 Fuel #1: Prayer Keeps Us Connected

Prayer isn’t fancy or scripted—it’s personal connection with God. When we stop praying, our faith loses oxygen. Even five honest minutes a day can refocus our hearts, realign our priorities, and remind us that we depend on Him.

🔥 Fuel #2: God’s Word Feeds the Fire

Fire needs fuel, and faith needs truth. God’s Word anchors us when emotions lie and strengthens us when life is hard. You don’t need to read chapters—one verse can fuel your faith all day.

🔥 Fuel #3: Worship Removes What Smothers

Sometimes the fire doesn’t need more fuel—it needs less clutter. Worship isn’t just songs we sing; it’s a lifestyle. How we live either fuels the fire or smothers it. When we worship, God clears out what’s holding us back.

🚀 The 21-Day Accelerate Faith Challenge

This isn’t about being perfect—it’s about being intentional.

  • 🙏 5 minutes of prayer daily

  • 📖 10 minutes in God’s Word daily

  • 🔥 1 faith action each week (serve, invite, share, obey)

It started January 8—but it’s never too late to start.

Let God show you what fuels your fire… and what might be smothering it.
Take a small step. Watch God build momentum.

Small steps. Real faith. God-sized momentum.

  • INTRO – Why Fire Fades

    • Theme: ACCELERATE — a year of faith-fueled momentum, fresh fire, and trust in God’s timing

    • Key truth: Fire doesn’t die because it’s weak—it dies because it’s unfed.

    • Big idea:

      • Fire must be tended

      • Faith must be fueled on purpose

      • Neglect leads to burnout—intentionality leads to momentum

FUEL #1: PRAYER KEEPS US CONNECTED TO THE SOURCE

    Scripture: Matthew 6:6

    • Prayer is not performance—it’s personal connection

    • Fire goes out without oxygen; faith weakens without communication

    • Prayer:

      • Refocuses our hearts

      • Realigns our priorities

      • Keeps us dependent on God

    • Truth: Prayer doesn’t change God—prayer changes us

    Practical Application:

    • Start small—5 minutes matters

    • Be honest, not impressive

    • Choose one consistent time or place to pray daily

FUEL #2: GOD’S WORD FEEDS THE FIRE

    Scripture: Matthew 4:4 (Deuteronomy 8:3)

    • Fire needs fuel; faith needs truth

    • God’s Word:

      • Reminds us who God is

      • Anchors us when emotions lie

      • Strengthens us when life is hard

    • Truth: You can’t live spiritually strong on spiritual leftovers

    Practical Application:

    • Read a few verses, not whole chapters

    • Ask:

      • What does this say about God?

      • What does this say about me?

    • One verse can fuel your faith all day

FUEL #3: WORSHIP REMOVES WHAT SMOTHERS THE FIRE

    Scripture: Romans 12:1

    • Sometimes the fire doesn’t need more fuel—it needs less clutter

    • Yesterday’s fire can smother today’s flame

    • Worship:

      • Shifts focus from problems to God

      • Invites God’s presence

      • Reignites passion

    • Worship is not just songs—it’s a lifestyle

    • How we live either fuels the fire or smothers it

    CLOSE – A HEART CHECK

    • Honest reflection:

      • What fuels your faith daily?

      • What smothers it?

    • Reminder:

      • Prayer keeps us connected

      • God’s Word feeds the fire

      • Worship clears what smothers it

    • Call to worship, prayer, and surrender

    Matthew 4:4 (NLT)

“People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.”

    Romans 12:1 (NLT)
