No Fear
Preached to: Middle & High School Students
Speaker: Pastor Amanda Hahn
Fear is Real — but Faith is Stronger
Fear is something every one of us deals with. In fact, there are over 500 documented phobias — from spiders and storms to needles and even being without a phone. Some fears make us laugh, but many are deeply real. The Bible doesn’t ignore fear — it speaks to it hundreds of times.
Big Idea: Faith does not remove fear — it overrides what fear controls.
From Scripture we learn three truths that reshape how we face fear:
1) When fear rises — God protects me.
Even in the “dark valleys,” Psalm 23 reminds us we are not alone. Fear yells “You’re by yourself.” Faith answers, “God is beside me.”
2) When fear lies — God promises me.
Fear predicts the worst, but Joshua 1:9 shows us God declares purpose, calling, and presence over our lives — even when the future feels unknown.
3) When fear limits — God provides for me.
Instead of worrying, Philippians 4:6–7 teaches us to pray — and God responds with peace that guards our hearts and minds.
Fear will always exist — but it does not have to rule our choices. Faith is how we hand fear back to God, believing He protects, He promises, and He provides.
Next Steps This Week
- Pray out loud once a day. Fear grows in silence — faith grows when your mouth agrees with truth.
- Swap fear for a verse. Pick one Scripture about fear and memorize it so you can answer fear with God’s Word.
Fear may talk loud — but God speaks louder. Faith doesn’t erase fear — it puts fear in its rightful place under the authority of a faithful God.

Night 1 — “Fear is Normal, But Not the Boss” Ask: - What is a fear people your age commonly feel but don’t talk about?
- Why do you think fear grows bigger when we keep it to ourselves?
- Have you ever seen God protect you or someone you know in a scary or uncertain moment?
Scripture tie-in to quote: “Even when I walk through the darkest valley… You are close beside me.” (Psalm 23:4) Night 2 — “When Fear Lies, God Promises Truth” Ask: - What is one lie fear tries to make people believe (ex: “you’ll fail,” “you’re alone,” “you’re not enough”)
- What is a promise from God that contradicts that lie?
- Why is it hard to trust God’s promises when you can’t see the outcome yet?
Scripture tie-in to quote: “Do not be afraid… For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9) Night 3 — “Trading Worry for Peace” Ask: - What is something you tend to worry about most?
- When you worry, do you usually try to control it or give it to God? Why?
- What do you think it would look like this week to choose prayer instead of panic?
Scripture tie-in to quote: “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything… Then you will experience God’s peace.” (Philippians 4:6–7)
