WHY THE BIBLE MATTERS

Preached to: Middle & High School Students

Speaker: Pastor Amanda Hahn

In a world where culture constantly tells us to “follow your heart” or “live your truth,” it can be hard to know what is actually true. The Bible reminds us that truth doesn’t change because it comes from God. Scripture not only reveals what is right and wrong, but it also transforms our hearts and helps us hear God’s voice in our daily lives. When we regularly spend time in God’s Word, it shapes who we are and guides the decisions we make. If we truly want to know God, we have to know His Word.

If a person reads the Bible 4 times a week:

·       228% - more likely to share their faith with others

·       407% - more likely to memorize scriptures

·       59% - less likely to view pornography

·       30% - less likely to struggle with loneliness

BIG IDEA: If you want to know God, you have to know His Word.

3 Reasons Why the Bible Matters

    • Reason 1 – The Bible Shows Us Truth: God’s Word is like a lamp that guides our steps and helps us see what is right and wrong. (Psalm 119:105)

    • Reason 2 – The Bible Changes Us: Scripture is alive and powerful, transforming our hearts, shaping our identity, and challenging how we think. (Hebrews 4:12)

    • Reason 3 – The Bible Helps Us Hear God: God continually speaks through His Word, revealing His character, truth, and direction for our lives.

Application: Instead of only opening the Bible at church or youth group, build a daily habit of spending time in God’s Word.

    Next Steps:
1️⃣ Read one chapter of the Bible each day this week.
2️⃣ Start in the Gospel of John.
3️⃣ Write down one verse each day using the S.O.A.P. method to help apply what you read.

Big Idea: If you want to know God, you have to know His Word.

  • 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NLT)

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.”

    Psalm 119:105

“Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.”

    Hebrews 4:12 (NLT)

“The word of God is alive and powerful…”
